With a quirky mixture of absurd internet humor and just absurd offline humor, Bike City’s own Kevin Carlyle Gish brings you a selection of comic monologues, sketches, and a one-act play that will challenge your notion of language, logic, and laughter.

In this introduction to improv, students will spend eight weeks learning to say “yes… and!”

We’ll practice improvisational techniques, let loose in hilarious games that encourage honesty and
specificity in the moment, and establish a foundation of humor and trust with the entire group.
The course culminates in a live performance for your friends and family, where you can show off
the skills you’ve learned over the last eight weeks through audience-generated short-form
scenes.
The first four weeks introduce the basics, and the last four weeks focus on finding our feet as a
cohesive improv troupe!

WILL IS A FRESHMAN AT WATSON COLLEGE. JORDAN IS A SENIOR FILM MAJOR. TYLER IS WRITING A NOVEL FOR HIS THESIS. THEY ARE ALL MEMBERS OF THE MEN’S PEER EDUCATION GROUP. AT MEETINGS THEY SPEND HOURS UNPACKING QUESTIONS LIKE: “WHAT IS MALE PRIVILEGE? AND WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?” THEY LOVE EACH OTHER AND THE GROUP. UNTIL SOME ACCUSATORY POSTERS START APPEARING AROUND CAMPUS SUGGESTING THAT A MEMBER OF THE GROUP COMMITTED SEXUAL ASSAULT. COULD IT BE THAT EVEN SENSITIVE GUYS, GUYS WORKING ON THEIR PRIVILEGE SOMETIMES TURN VIOLENT OR AGGRESSIVE? IN THIS PLAY WOMEN AND GENDER NON-CONFORMING PEOPLE PLAY MEN TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE INTRICACIES OF MASCULINITY AND VIOLENCE.
